Thank You
Jenni Berz sworn in to City Council

Thank you to my family for standing with me today as I was sworn in to serve Chattanooga and District 6 on the City Council. It was an honor to be sworn in by the Honorable Rob Philyaw. My love and eternal gratitude to my mother and mentor, Dr. Carol Berz, who raised me to be a strong, hardworking and caring woman. I will carry the values you instilled in me - of serving my community and striving to leave the world better than I found it - as I represent Chattanooga and District 6.

Mark Holland Endorses Councilwoman Jenni Berz for Chattanooga City Council District #6

For Immediate Release — March 27, 2025

I want to express my deepest gratitude to all of my friends, neighbors, and supporters in District 6 who stood beside me during my campaign for Chattanooga City Council. My decision to run for public office was fueled by a deep love for this community and a passion to see District 6 continue to grow and thrive.

As a long-standing board member of MidTown Connect, I’ve had the privilege of serving alongside Councilwoman Jenni Berz to strengthen economic development, organize unifying community events, and uplift the voices of our district. Since the general election, Jenni and I have continued to work together on key initiatives that address our residents’ immediate and long-term needs.

I’ve seen her commitment to transparent leadership, thoughtful planning, and responsiveness to the constituents’ concerns firsthand. Her dedication has only strengthened my confidence in the direction she is leading our district.

Today, I am proud to endorse Councilwoman Jenni Berz for re-election to the Chattanooga City Council representing District 6. I encourage all of my supporters to stand with her and help continue the important work we’ve already started.

Through my role on MidTown Connect and our joint efforts to establish the Tyner-Silverdale Neighborhood Association – an initiative that will bring city leadership and residents closer together – my commitment to District 6 is as strong as ever.

Jenni’s leadership is exactly what District 6 needs, and I’m proud to support her as we continue working for the future of our community – together.

Jenni Berz Announces Candidacy for City Council District 6 Seat, Continuing Late Councilwoman Carol Berz Legacy

Chattanooga, Tenn. — December 18, 2024

With the election commission filing deadline approaching less than a week from her mother Councilwoman Carol Berz’s recent, unexpected passing, Jenni Berz has made the honorable and heartfelt decision to run for the City of Chattanooga City Council District 6 seat. Berz is closely involved with the “Moving Forward Together” March 2025 campaign and has been a key leader for Councilwoman Berz throughout her career in public office.

As the Councilwoman championed community and economic development initiatives and led organizations like the Family Justice Center, Mayor’s Council for Women, and Midtown Connect, Jenni has worked alongside her playing an instrumental supporting role. “Jenni knows firsthand there is no one like her mother. She knows how hard Councilwoman Berz worked for the people in her district and has shared her same vision,” said 2025 Campaign Chair Richard Johnson.

Berz picked up her petition to run at the Hamilton County Election Commission on Monday, December 16, 2024, just four days before the filing deadline. Her plans are to run on the same platform: putting people first, advocating for transparency and responsiveness in City government, ensuring safe and sustainable neighborhoods, identifying opportunities for economic growth and stability, and fueling programs that support our youth and families.

“District 6 is moving in a very positive direction, thanks to the vision and leadership of my mother. It has been a privilege to work alongside her with the neighborhoods, community organizations, and individuals who care about the future of this community and Chattanooga. It would be an honor to represent District 6 and serve the City of Chattanooga,” said Berz.
